(All I Want Is To) Disappear

by The Empathy Exams (Styrofoam & The Go Find)

/

about

The last time Dieter Sermeus (The Go Find) and Arne Van Petegem (Styrofoam) teamed up it was to work on The Go Find’s 2004 debut album for the Berlin based Morr Music label.

Plenty of tours, newborn babies turning into college age kids, refurbished houses, broken strings, rainy days, family holidays, malfunctioning drum machines, stacked book and record shelves, parents lost, new friends gained, post-election blues, milk alternatives and guided by voices records have happened since then.

“(All I Want Is To) Disappear” is their second single.

The Empathy Exams are respectfully named after Leslie Jamison’s essay collection of the same name. They like to think that the process of writing songs, whether they’re autobiographical or not, is in itself somewhat of an empathy exam.

(Also, it was the first book they randomly picked up while looking for a suitable band name.)
